The Beatles on Record

The Beatles on Record’ began as a series of mini documentaries that were to accompany the release of the re-mastered Beatles albums on iTunes. Once we had made these mini documentaries we realised that we had the basis of a much bigger project. We then set about using the mini docs as the basis for a film that would provide an overview of the Beatles recording career from when they first entered Abbey Road Studios as virtual unknowns in 1962 up to their final session in 1970. We did not shoot any contemporary interviews; the Beatles themselves appear only in archive, and in voice over that was drawn from audio interviews from the period 1962-2004. In this clip The Beatles along with producer George Martin discuss how they recorded songs for the Revolver album.
